Description:
I bought these white hydrangeas for myself because they were so perfect. The afternoon sun (and my creative license) added a purple hue to the shadows. When I first let people take a peek at this painting on social media as a work-in-progress painting, I got offers on it right away. While the painting ultimately didn't work for either of the interested collectors, it confirmed for me the interest people have in this lovely and complicated (for painters!) flower. Because of their complexity and the variety of ways they can be painted, hydrangeas continue to be some of my favorite subjects.
