Maribeth specializes in watercolor on Yupo, a smooth synthetic paper which allows the colors to remain vibrant. She enjoys creating compositions from nature including landscapes, and botanicals. Her current series is a study of the 1500 varieties of Jellyfish found in the ocean.
Artist's Statement: “I am intrigued by the beauty and flowing nature of jellyfish which lend themselves well to my work on Yupo. There are over 1500 species of these sea nettles found in the ocean in a variety of vibrant colors. The scientific name, Medusozoa, is after the Goddess Medusa with snakes for hair.”
Maribeth also works in pastel on the pavement performing as a street painter at various chalk festivals throughout the year. She is available to perform as a street painter at events or commissions for permanent murals. She teaches watercolor classes for adults at the Potocki Art Center in Mission Viejo missionviejoarts.org
