Diane Youngblood

. ... ..

Hot, tropical colors, flowers, fruits, faces and places contrast sharply with the red clay dirt and cornfields of the rural south Georgia where Diane grew up…but that was to change. Graduation from the University of Florida and marriage to Jack Youngblood led to Southern California after he was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams. During that 16 year marriage, Diane opened a successful stationery boutique in South Coast Plaza with another teammate’s wife, worked as an interior designer but was always drawn back to her first love, painting. She continually returned to studies in drawing and painting at California State University, Long Beach as well as numerous workshops in Santa Fe and the Art Institue in San Miguel de Allende . Travels to Bali, Nepal and Europe further fueled her love of the exotic and colorful. As her marriage ended, Diane picked up her paint and brushes and began to pursue her passion of painting and hasn’t stopped since.
Her larger-than-life canvases explode with color and light. Whether the subject is exotic tropical beaches and people or pulsating fruit and flowers, life is celebrated in a riot of vibrant color. Diane has participated in various art exhibits, including the La Quinta Art Festival, Southwest Art Festival, Art-a-Fair in Laguna Beach, Ca. and the Newport Beach Salute to the Arts. Her paintings reside in many private collections. She has enjoyed teaching painting for the last 20 years. Her work can currently be seen at The Cove Gallery in Laguna Beach, California, as well as at www.dianeyoungbloodart.com
